Join your fellow alums in recording “Time After Time” and, with the current KJs, “I Will” and sharing the KJ love from 4pm-6pm ET on February 20. There will be a prize for best Zoom background, so dig deep into your digital archives for the most charming/embarrassing/provocative/lovely KJ image. Don’t miss this fabulous this fabulous evening with our KJ family!

Elliot will be sending out the Zoom link for the KJ love fest. Trey has hired a music producer in LA to mix the tracks and create the videos.

KJ VIRTUAL CHOIR INSTRUCTIONS

What you will need:

1. Headphones (earbuds will work well)
2. A laptop computer or tablet
3. A cell phone that can record video

Some practical advice:

● First and foremost – have fun, and don’t worry about being perfect! We will edit our videos all together, so little mistakes will get smoothed over the way they do when we sing together in a larger group.

● Look over and practice singing through the pieces with the guide videos below.

The guide videos consist of Dina Murokh conducting both pieces with a recording of each piece playing in the background. You will sing along to this, since it’s meant to help keep everyone in the same key and tempo. Please make sure to follow along with the music on the screen, as many KJs seem to have their own version of the song. :)

● Choose a good space to record your video: A less reverberant room is preferable to a reverberant one in this case (so outside, or a room with a bunch of books would be better than a small, empty room with lots of flat, hard surfaces). Try to find a space with good lighting. Wear some KJ or Princeton attire for the video.

● Making your video: we recommend using a phone to record your video while you watch the guide video on your computer/tablet using headphones. Center your face on the screen, and have the phone positioned the long way (in “landscape” mode). Allow a few seconds on your recording before and after you sing for ease of editing.

Once you have completed your video, please submit it using the submission button below. If you have any questions about the music or recording process, please email dimurokh@gmail.com. If you have any issues with the submission process, please email treyfarmer@gmail.com. Virtual choir submissions are due by February 13, ‘round midnight!
